Dark room dreams get lost in the flat screen #3

MOTELx - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival is an event for fraternizing and discovery, set-up for all those that are permanently looking for new auteurs, new films, new looks into the genre, and new experiences.
Without any kind of dogma or preconceptions, the program offers to the audience a selection of the films that have generated the most enthusiastic reactions all around the world in the last couple of years, in all possible variations of the genre – from supernatural to gore, from psychological horror to the monster movie, from blockbuster to indie, from classic to experimental, from cult to new tendencies.

Inside MOTELx the horror experience is full, and besides offering the opportunity to watch films unreleased in Portugal, it is the place to get to know the directors in person, to participate in masterclasses presented by living masters, and to follow the exciting competition of the only Prize for the Best Portuguese Horror Short Film.

Qu'est-que c'est? #3

Gesaffelstein (real name Mike Levy) is a French electronic producer from Paris, France. He is true artist and his music is to be heard as a work of art. Gesaffelstein is not a crowd-pleaser: he plays heavy-minded music with bold precision and is not there to make you dance like crazy or to soundtrack your flirts.
After a number of EP's and collaborations for Turbo Records and for other record companies, Gesaffelstein latest work is Conspiracy which is divided in two parts, for now (it's said that there might be a third part). The Part 1, which was out on the 26th of April, is a little faster and classier. The Part 2 was out on the 19th of July and it's a little slower and more intense, if that is possible.

Conspiracy
Part 1

1- Hatred - A sick track with a classy beat and a delicious distorted bass that really shows Gesaffelstein's talent.

2- Aufstand - It's a progressive Tech House track which has all the ingredients for greatness. The usual classy and authoritary beat, the intensity and a great mix between highs and lows.

3- The Lack Of Hope
- A little bit more dreamy than the other ones on these EP's, this track is perfect for starting AND for ending the night.

Part 2

1 - Viol - The intensity and the darkness in this track show why Gesaffelstein is an icon and one of the very best in his genre. Viol (which in french means "rape") is a track deeply marked by the nightlife and by violence.

2 - Opr - Low tempo authoritary beats meet distorted dark synths and eerie sounds giving you the intensity Gesaffelstein usually assures.

3 - Conspiracy Origins - A progressive low tempo Techno track with a thumping kick and an ever growing bass that make it penetrate through your ears into your mind.

Gesaffelstein's first album is due to be out on early 2012. After that, he'll be touring all over the world and I think we can't miss him.

Golden Spot #1

When Lanvin meets Pittbull
This season’s runway show wasn’t rich in ohh’s and aah’s like it’s always expected by the designer Alber Elbaz. Maybe the pressure of having to design a collection for the mainstream giant H&M (with the last looks from the show being a déjà vu of that collection), but the truth is that the french house amazed everyone with the video for the Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 campaign.
In a room decorated with a baroque feeling, there is a presence of LBD’s, capes, ankle boots and hats, all of them with a pinch of austerity that was seen in the runway show, worn by Raquel Zimmerman and Karen Elson, creating a huge contrast with a song that no one ever thought that could be related to Lanvin - “I know you want me” by rapper PittBullThe models Lowell Tautchin e Milo Spijkers also appear, using the collection for men.
With photography by Steven Meisel, the video ends with Alber Elbaz dancing next to the male models. This unexpected (but cool) combination surprised us all and confirms one thing – he knows we want Lanvin!
