Une fille dans le monde #3

Drop Dead Clothing is a clothing brand in existence since 2005, created by Oliver Sykes, the lead singer of the band Bring Me the Horizon.
It started with some projects and over time grew to its brand Drop Dead better known for his bizarre designs.
Oliver employed his mother and his younger brother, who were a great help to accomplish all this work. Later SJ, who is an ex-girlfriend of Oliver Sykes, was a model for Drop Dead and his current girlfriend now is also a model for the brand .
At this time Oliver has a wide range of t-shirts, sweaters, dresses, jackets, bikinis, shorts and accessories.
Much of his clothing line, such as t-shirts, jackets and accessories, are used by both boys and girls, it's an unisex line.
Most t-shirts are used by some known bands and musicians such as Gallows, Skrillex and A Day To Remember.
With its extravagant drawings, Drop Dead aims to revolutionize the "alternative clothing" world.

Dark room dreams get lost in the flat screen #2

Les Amours Imaginaires, by Xavier Dolan

When I see or hear about this movie the first thing I remember is one of my first encounters with my friend Inês. This was the movie we were eager to see in IndieLisboa Cinema Festival, unfortunately we couldn't get tickets for the session and we went just to see another movie called (when i remember i will write here ) I sincerely liked and I thought that the idea was original but for me the best part fo the day was the company of my friend.

Les Amours imaginaires (Heartbeats) is the second feature film from young director and actor Xavier Dolan (J'ai tue ma mère, 2009). Heartbeats tells the story of three friends, Francis, Marie and Nicolas who engage in a love triangle.
Their lives change when they meet Nicholas, a boy who just moved to Montreal. The meetings follow one another and the three become an inseparable group. But Francis and Marie, both in love with Nicolas developes obsessive fantasies around their common object of desire. As they go through the typical stages of passion, they embark on a genuine dispute over the boy's attention by committing his friendship. With a soundtrack of luxury in coming issues such as Vive la Fête, Bang Bang (Dalida), Indochine, Comet Gain, among others.

Qu'est-que c'est? #2

Digitalism is a german electro duo. Digitalism hail from Hamburg. İsmail "Isi" Tüfekçi, the German born son of Turkish immigrants, met Jens "Jence" Moelle, the child of a liberal family, at the city’s Underground Solution record store. Jens Moelle was the first to find employment there, towards the end of the 1990s. When he took leave from the shop to devote more time to his school work, Isi filled. Later Jens returned, and the pair worked alongside each other: Jens in the shop, and Isi at the attendant record distribution business. They soon bonded over their shared love of dance and rock records. When the store’s owner, Ollie Grabowski, began casting around for a couple of fresh, young DJs to play at a party, he suggested that Isi and Jens team up. Digitalism were born!

After that 2 albums and 2 EP's as well as a long list of remixes are out.

The last album is "I Love You, Dude" and it was out on the 20th of June, this year.
It's a fantastic 10-track-saga and definitely a must have.

1 - Stratosphere - A strong "ambience sound with a thumping beat and a mix of distorted and clean synths that will keep you "dreamland".

2 - 2 Hearts - Digitalism on their "Indie Pop" side, just like they did on "Pogo" on their first album "Idealism". Mixing guitar samples with a lot of synths and a really smooth beat, Jence's voice really is the sweet spot on this song keeping it really nice and catchy.

3 - Circles - A progressive track where this duo shows some of their best work. Many electronic bands of today use distorted synths as bass, but very few master it as well a Digitalism. A great song where the 80's meet today's electronic music and where Jence's voice gives a really nice touch.

4 - Blitz - Pure Electro. It's Digitalism back to their roots. You could almost say it's an homage to their greatest inspirational band, Daft Punk. I would say they'd be proud of it. Melodic synths and a thumping beat with a really strong kick make this a beautiful song that really makes you wanna dance.

5 - Forrest Gump - More of a "Disco Punk" theme than the previous ones, this track has the usual great synth bass, a parnership with the great Julian Casablancas, a lot of guitar and the synth ripping its way through the song gives a nice touch to it.

6 - Reeperbahn - A lot heavier than the Digitalism people are used to, with a touch of industrial Rock. There's a lot of adrenaline on it, nice drumming and a delicious bass that will make you scream for more.

7 - Antibiotic - I'm sorry to say it like this but it feels like Kraftwerk on cocaine. It's a deep, dark, minimal electro with  a psychedelic distorted synth touch on it. The result of it is awesome.

8 - Just Gazin' - A very sweet and soothing sound that will definitely make you chill out. It has a beautiful melody and a wonderful bass that will make you dream away.

9 - Miami Showdown - It just might be the perfect theme song for some remake of the "Knight Rider" TV series. It's a dark song that makes you feel like you're living on the 70's Miami nightlife runned by all the powerful drug dealers. You can feel the violence of it throughout this track.

10 - Encore - More electro and more dance music. This is Digitalism as everybody knows it. It has all the elements of a great dance song. Good rhythm, good bass and good vibes. It really gives you a great sense of well being. Encore. That's what you'll ask for by the end of this song.

The Sudoeste Festival also known as SW, is a typically Portuguese festival which now has 15 editions. It all happens in Herdade da CasaBranca in Zambujeira Do Mar and is organized by Música no Coração. Throughout its history, it was visited by more than one million people.
This year, it took place on days 3,4,5,6 and 7 of August, several people around the world are moving purposefully to visit this mega venue consists of four stages: TMNPlaneta Sudoeste, Positive Vibes and Groovebox.
In 2011 we benefited from the presence of the following performers: Asian Dub Foundation, Janelle Monae, Destroyer, Raphael Saadiq, Bag Raiders, Kanye West, Marcelo CameloDeolinda, Patrice, Underworld, Mexican Institude of Sound, Jack, The Script, Scissor SistersPolock, Filipe Pinto, Givers, Interpol, Zola Jesus, The National, Swedish House Mafia, Snoop Dogg and David Guetta.
Of all the performances there were some prominent artists, including rapper Snoop Dogg, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia ..
On day 4, Snopp Dogg won a majority of festival-goers with the success Sensual Seduction, later doing a tribute to his main reference, TupacShakur.
Then David Guetta appeared to animate the public. With a well thought visual show that turned the party into a dance floor. Some of the highlights were "One Love," "When Love Takes Over" and "Gettin 'Over." The highlight of the evening happened to "Love Do not Let Me Go." Looking around at the audience, Guetta was amazed, leading him to confirm his presence to the next edition.
Swedish House Mafia, in turn, gave a rave over the closing ceremony. Electronic seemingly out of a nightclub, with a crowd of thousands to see them and obviously fans, they were the last big concert of the festival and they didn't disappoint. Some remixes of Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers made the crowd react. By this time, there wasn't much energy left, but they managed to make the audience jump and dancetil dawn and this is, after all, a triumph for them who were a true revelation. As usual in Zambujeira do Mar, the Sudoeste TMN had a great finale with Swedish House Mafia.
The SW makes the best junction between the festival and the beach and is increasingly a destination for many festival-goers. Two big concerts took place the and it is expected in the near future that both Snoop Dogg and Kanye West will give solo concerts in any room of the Country
There will be more SW TMN next year, "Vens ver ou vens viver" (Will you see it, or will you live it)?

Dripping, alcohol, a bit of insanity, this is Jackson Pollock! A few days ago I saw a movie about him.
Born in 1912 he had a very problematic life where alcohol was is port and he died very young, in 1956. During is life alcohol was a very powerfull enemy against his work but even so Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety, perhaps it was because of his "sponsors" like the millionaire Peggy Guggenheim who was is lover during a period of is life. Pollock was a dripper, a defenition inside the abstract expressionism, rubisher and user of several diferent colours he was one of the first big names in the new american modernistic movement.
Volatile, as person, and struggling against alcohol he had very difficult life, maybe he could have a different projection if he was in Europe, death took one of the major names of abstract non-figurative artists early, but even today is work is very appreciated and studied.

Riots: consequence of bad measures!

During the last days the world has been turned to the United Kingdom where riots have been often every day. Riots are consequence of bad politiques practiced by the government against the young population, we shouldn't forget that in several neighborhoods more than 20% of those youngsters are unemployd, they don't need to wake up early on the following day to work so they have time to stay out in the streets causing disturbs, some fighting for their rights, some having beneffit of the current situation, others paying the price of issues that haven't been solve on time...
